My Lazy Thyroid and Me

I went in for a physical the last week and they did the all the normal labs that they do and stuff. Everything came back normal except for my thyroid gland. It wasn't producing enough of the hormones that its supposed to and as a result my metabolism has been way down among other things.

This news has sorta been one of those things where once you know it, everything just fits into place. Like how I gained 30lbs over like a month and a half despite no changes in diet, etc from before. I had guessed that I got to the age where my metabolism just decided to crap out >.>. That happens right? To twenty-one year olds? I dunno. I suppose I didn't look too much into it.

I also assumed that what turned out to be facial swelling was just 'cause of the extra weight I had gained. Not to mention the pressure on my wind pipe. It was getting a little more difficult to breathe for awhile there. I thought it was just neck fat crushing my throat -_-. So I suppose now that all fat people dont feel that way at my weight.

All those symptoms come on so gradually they are easy to miss until a big change sorta happens. I think in about 3 days or so I'm supposed to be feeling more normal. I do admit though that after 7~8 months of this I dont remember what 'normal' is like. The pills they gave me sorta make me act a little drunk but I guess its worth it.

A Total Plug >.>

When I went to the doctor yesterday I asked her about weight loss. She recommended two places. One being Weight Watchers, which I cant afford, and the other SparkPeople.com.

Its free to use and is just like Weight Watchers only online and free. If you want, it can plan your daily meals and even compile a grocery list for the week for you. It keeps track of how many calories you eat and helps you to track how many you burn when you exercise. Its really awesome.

You can set goals in it and it seems really helpful. Im not letting them plan my meals but I do enter in what I eat and it tells me how I'm doing nutritionally. It helps you set goals and everything. I think its really helpful to use and I hope I'll get good results with it.

Heres the link for any of you that want to try it out:
http://www.sparkpeople.com

Might as well look into it, right? :)

I suppose I was right....

Obama did win. Lets see how that goes.

I take back what I said previously. Thank you for the information.

Election Day

So its finally here :o Last election I wasn't old enough to vote. Not that that doesn't change the fact that I dont vote anyway but yea. I suppose I paid slightly more attention to it this year though. I think if I did vote, I'd have to go with McCain. Theres a lot I haven't researched of them both, but after watching one of the debates that were on, McCain at least had a plan on how to do things. Obama just seemed good at saying things that sounded nice. Sure some of his ideas sounded good, but without a plan its nothing but fluff as far as im concerned. He's great at blowing smoke >.>

Tonight I found this video:
http://www.eyeblast.tv/Public/Video.aspx?rsrcID=2036

Obvisously geared to Republicans though I do find it wrong that he doesn't place his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. Or wont wear the American flag pin. Yea the information might be one sided but it does paint a nice picture of him not being so patriotic. Which, I think, is important in someone who is going to be the leader of a country.

Despite this though, I still have a feeling Obama will be our next president.

Oh no! Mixed Reviews :o

First of all, I dont think me and morgues would be a good fit O_O...they kinda creep me out. Not so much the dead people that are there, but the live people that would work there O_o

As far as that class goes, I will look into it a little more to check out their certificating credentials. Also, this class isn't a lifetime career choice for me. I have no intention of doing it forever. Basically, its my solution to getting a job in a hospital so I can work there to pay for my schooling since hospitals will do tuition reimbursement. Its a job that will pay better than working at a restaurant or something so I'll be able to move out and still get my Bachelors. Once I get into med school I'll probably quit working and just live off of student loans. Thats the general plan anyway, but who knows what the future holds?

The 3-day Course

Ok yeah, it does sound a little fishy when you hear that its a 3 day course that I found on the internet, but really, theres more to it. Its merely advertised on the internet. Yes, they do have an online course, which I can't understand for the life of my why anyone would do it that way, but the 3 day course is taught in person in a building downtown. You learn all the basics like how to draw blood on people of all ages, the correct procedure for filling out the paperwork when sending it to the lab, sterilization techniques and so on.

The reason that this course can be whittled down to just 3 days is that they just teach you about phlebotomy. I dont believe any sort of phlebotomy training is required in pre-med. When you go to a trade school, or a community college to learn and be certified in this, they teach you a lot more than just what you need to know. For them, its kinda set up so that they teach their students more of a variety of career options all at once instead of just what they're there for. So yea.

By the way, I thought i posted this before O_o. Sorry about that. Its been saved as a draft all this time -_-.

I'm still sick :'(

I've been feeling a lot sicker lately. It sucks and I really dont know what to do about it. Truly, it makes life hell.

I found a place online that can train me to become certified as a phlebotomist in 3 days. Its also much cheaper than you would pay to learn it at a community college or trade school. To save up the money for it, I'm planning on getting a job at Wal-mart. I can work in the overnight stocking shift and not have to see many kids and people. Also I bet it would be a good place to get plenty of exercise, and I need it.

The hard thing though is that I have been feeling so sick. I dunno. I need sleep. G'night.

Another Birthday Post

I have birthdays on the brain and the next one up is: Alice's. I had a lot of fun hanging out with Rachael and Matt for her birthday. We went out to eat lunch at a restaurant and then we went to the Science Museum to see the dinosaur exhibit they had. It was a lot of fun. Also, while we were walking from the restaurant to the museum we passed through a Japanese festival that was going on. It looked really cool. There were people trying to dress in either classic or modern Japanese fashion. They had performances going on but I really dont know exactly what kinds since we walked through it. It was amusing though, seeing very obviously non-Asian people trying to look Asian.

After the museum closed and forced us to leave, we sped off to Rachael's house where she made us a really tasty dinner. During her cooking, I was allowed to scrounge in the the stuff that she was getting rid of because she couldn't take it with her to Atlantic. Couldn't or wouldn't. That was cool and I got a bunch of free stuff. Yay! After dinner we played a game that I've never heard of before and the name of it eludes me, but it was fun. By the time Rachel and I left, it was very late. Or at least, I was tired out from the fun.

January

In an attempt to fill my blog with the void that is normally filled by me, I shall now post as many times as I can in this last day of this month. So, let's talk about what happened in January.

We had Sara's birthday. Unfortunately we were all really poor and couldn't do much, but I hope she enjoyed it. Sara was playing MapleStory there for awhile, but for some reason she seems to have gotten worse recently and requires much more sleep. I'm wondering if her CFS is flaring up or something.

Of course last month was also my 21st birthday. I didn't really celebrate it. I invited Cassie over and she brought Mario Party. I forget which one. The plan was to get drunk and play video games, but unfortunately Cassie was forced to work the next day and couldn't drink. I had her portion :D but didn't really get super drunk. We played one game and then she went home. I dont really celebrate birthdays, because they are usually a bust. Nothing goes as it should and then it just sucks.

Some other stuff happened which I forget at this late hour. Therefore, it must not have been newsworthy.

i did it too

Basic

Sorry for the lack of posts. Mostly I just haven't felt like writing on here. Maybe because I already type so much throughout the day. Off hand, I cant really think of much to write about...

Christmas went well. Santa got us pajamas and I secretly covet Rach's purple ones. I guess my blue ones are ok though. They are really thick and soft. But they do get a bit too warm...if I ever go up to Flagstaff again, I shall definitely wear them under my clothes!

I got Sara into MapleStory. She's having fun with it and is making friends around the world and stuff. I think its a good opportunity for her to socialize and stuff. Mike and I are still dating. Thats not his real name btw, he just goes by that. We're doing good I suppose. We kinda fight a lot and mostly I think its because of the media that we meet through. It can be easy to take something one way when its meant in another through text. In that respect, it seems odd to me to have such a relationship with someone. Especially for me. Since I dont really like fighting with people. Meh.

I've been feeling especially sick lately. It sucks and I hope that when we have money for Reliv I might feel better soon after taking it again. Hope you all are doing well. <3
